From MyPaint

-I used to run openSUSE. I had to build MyPaint a few times from source because there wasn't an up-to-date package. Right now I run Mint, but if I ever switch back to (or triple boot) openSUSE, would you like me to maintain a current build of MyPaint for it? I assume it'd just involve rebuilding when a new version comes out and uploading it for the openSUSE guys to review. Or would maintaining involve taking care of OS-specific bugs and other code-heavy tasks? A quick walk-through of the basic steps would be nice. Or if I would be in over my head, I'd like to know that too.

That's a rather strange question to ask here. But to answer part of it, maintaining doesn't involve coding usually, but you need to love the distribution that you package for and know it in and out and be part of their community (and ask there for how to go about it). Sounds like a big big "no" if you don't even have the distribution installed. --maxy 18:05, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

-Fair enough. I'm no novice, but I'm not a Linux expert either. I just noticed there isn't an official package for openSUSE and wondered if I could help. (openSUSE is my favorite distro, by the way. I had to switch to Mint for a driver package; but I've been looking for an excuse to switch back for a while now.) Anyway, nevermind about this for now. No reason to worry about it until I actually reinstall the proper OS. DementedSnake 03:32, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
